Liposuction selectively removes unwanted fat cells, called adiposites (pronounced ad-ip-"O"-sites). Once these fat cells are removed, they do not grow back. Therefore, the results are permanent, although take over 6 months to be fully seen.
What happens if I gain weight after liposuction? Typically, one will gain fat in an area that was not treated with liposuction. For example, if one had their abdomen treated and gained 10 pounds, they might notice an increase in fat in their arms or legs. Liposuction is best performed on those who are at a "stable" weight--their weight does not fluctuate much.
What happens if I gain weight after liposuction? Can I have the new fatty areas treated? It is always best to try dieting and exercise first, as liposuction is not a weight reduction tool. After one exhausts diet and exercise, additional liposuction can be considered and is effective for most.
