For many cosmetic procedures and for the removal of skin growths, some patients may wish to use a topical numbing cream to reduce discomfort. We recommend LMX-4 (formerly called ElaMax-4), which is available for purchase at our office and at local pharmacies. This product must be applied GENEROUSLY to the areas at least one if not two hours before the treatment. DO NOT RUB IT IN! Most patients will need to reapply the medication every 30 minutes. If the cream is not visible on the skin during this time it will not work. This product contains lidocaine, and those who are allergic to lidocaine should not use this medication. Additionally, use on an area larger than the size of one's palm is not recommended. For addition information please refer to your local pharmacist, our staff (for existing patients), or the package insert. FOR OUR PATIENTS ONLY: If you do opt to use a topical numbing cream, it is your responsibility to apply it BEFORE your scheduled appointment time. Your scheduled appointment time is the time we expect to begin treatment. |
